Motivational Tip - Try counting the exercises down instead of up.

Training Programme - Home leg training programme (3 sets of 10-16 reps for each exercise)

Calf Raises

Calf Raise - For the Calf muscles. Stand in an upright position on a level surface. Raise up onto your tip toes hold for 3 seconds and lower. To make the exercise harder hold weights in your hands or complete the exercise on a step so your heals can be lowered below your toes. Keep just the balls of your feet on the step.


Lunges

Straight Lunges - For the lower bum and thighs. Standing with your feet shoulder width apart take one large stride forward. As you do this lower your body which remains in an upright position until your back knee touches the floor. Slowly raise back up and repeat on the other leg.



Policemans Squats

Policemans Squats - For the inner thighs, thighs and bum. Stand with your feet a little wider than shoulder width apart and with your toes pointing out at a 45 degree angle. Using your arms to balance lower your bum untill its level with your knees and slowly raise up. Don't let your knees push forward infront of your toes!! you should feel as if you could fall backwards, but don't!!

Pillow Squeeze

Pillow Squeeze - For the Inner thighs, laying flat on your back with your knees bent and shoulder width apart. Place a pillow or two between your knees and squeeze them together, hold for 3 seconds and repeat.




Squats

Squats - For the whole leg and bum. Stand in an upright position, using your hands to balance slowly lower yourself so that your bum is level with your knees. Try not to let your knees push forward beyond your toes. You will feel slightly off balance as a result so use your arms to balance.
